1. Save the Date! Plugging In: Connecting Teaching Artists with New Media & Technology June 19
NECAP, the New England Consortium of Artist-Educator Professionals, presents its 8th annual Widening the Circle conference for teaching artists on June 19, 2009, at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence. The State Arts Council is a NECAP funder and partner. A limited number of scholarships are available to North Country teaching artists. Call Frumie Selchen, 323-7302 for details on the scholarships, or e-mail necap@aannh.org to be added to the conference e-mail list. The conference is presented in partnership with the Arts in Education programs of the arts agencies of the New England states, and hosted by RISD’s Department of Teaching and Learning in Art and Design. 2.Maps & Journeys: Perspectives on Arts Education in NH 
Annual partnership conference is October 30 to November 1, 2009. Artists, arts educators, parents, teachers, administrators, arts advocates and interested community members are invited to attend the annual N.H. 3. Congratulations!

• Gary Sredzienski has been commissioned to write and star in the upcoming world premiere of “Creek Man: The Unbelievable True Story of the Accordion-Playing Merman.”  The play/dinner theater at the York Harbor Reading Room is a blend of storytelling and music written by, about, and starring Gary Sredzienski, an accordion master who’s earned the nickname Creek Man for his four-season swims in the tidal creeks of the Piscataqua River on the Seacoast. Sredzienski, who is listed on the State Arts Council’s Artist Roster, was commissioned for “Creek Man” by Harbor Light Stage of Kittery Point, Maine. The play will be launched on a regional tour throughout New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts later this year. More information is available at www.harborlightstage.org.
• Jon Keenan, professor of Fine and Performing Arts at Colby-Sawyer College, has been selected as a Fulbright scholar in art and anthropology at Kyoto Seika University. An internationally known ceramic artist and educator who lies in Elkins, Keenan will travel to Kyoto, Japan, this summer as a visiting artist, scholar and teacher, representing the United States. Keenan, who joined Colby-Sawyer in 1990, is an expert in ceramic history, studio ceramics, East Asian art history, and Japanese art, language and culture.
